she's got the fever...

look at those rosy (hot) cheeks! poor baby girl.  it seems to just be teeth, and thankfully baby tylenol gets her back to her sassy self in no time.
I will only eat Teddy Grahams tonight and you'll be
happy I ate something. Trick's on you!

I pulled a few other recent pics off my phone when downloading the fever pic...

{waking hours are spent 20% playing, 30% eating,
50% reading}

{she is obsessed with the pink cup from Old Navy.
I am obsessed with the denim mini from Old Navy.}

{just in case you thought she forgot how to smile!}

hope everyone has a great week!   -gg

catching up is hard to do

busy times around here! still working on the "milky matters" post I promised. in the meantime, here are the last couple of week's pics (sorry for cell phone camera quality of some) and vids:

it's spring!

spring for Scott = fallen branches and time to get out the Pocket Chainsaw

I just didn't have the heart to tell her to put her leg down when she was having so much fun.

shopping at the kids museum's faux farmers market

future conductor

not sure about her new nubby toothbrush

awesome toddler slide @ lefleur's bluff park

not afraid of heights!

for faraway relatives, some videos of everyday life:

in case you can't tell, she's doing great. says mama and dada but it's questionable whether she knows what they mean. her two real words are "cat" and "owl."  her coolest new trick is you can ask her to go get a specific book (The Little Kitten, Fancy Nancy, etc) and she will - even if it's in a different room! my heart swells with pride :)

who, me?

 have a great weekend!

thank you, and catching up

thanks for y'all's kind words about the loss of our dog.  we have even gotten nice cards in the mail from friends, family, and Otis' vet - which says a lot about Otis and our friends, family and vet.

I haven't taken a lot of (good) photos of Clara lately, but need to post what I have taken before she turns 5 or something, so here goes:

clara continues to love outside and to
be oblivious to temperature

fuzzy photo... too cute not to keep

ditto

reading The Little Kitten with Grandpom

my friend Zylavian gave C this highly annoying awesome
microphone for her bday

C's unofficial godparents Pamela and Bud gave her a KINDLE for her bday!!

she even wants the "awesome" microphone at meals....

"too busy for photos, Mama"

will do a more substantive update soon. have a great weekend!

tales from the (real) zoo

after clara's shots on monday, she slept for about 18 of the next 24 hours. the rest of the week was more eventful, with swimming and music classes, and trips to the children's museum and zoo (pics in a sec).  her doctor called thursday to let me know that she appears to have a small virus based on slightly elevated white blood cells. she's had a runny nose, so this wasn't surprising. the doc said it wasn't anything to worry about as long as clara doesn't get worse, and she seems to already be on the mend.  clara is also very slightly anemic (10.8 - 11+ is normal). this is not a huge shock either since clara is breastfed and we don't give her many fortified baby foods (we don't eat much processed food). the doc said we should be able to get it up through diet alone, and suggested lots of eggs and beans.  so the lucky baby is now having omelets for breakfast every day :)

we went to the zoo today and clara had a great time. her being able to walk now and taking her little car instead of the stroller seemed to really increase the fun quotient. her clear favorites were the otters and flamingos:

hi, otter!!

look, mama!  can I have one for our fish pond at home?

hey dada, we have a membership so we can come see the flamingos every day week!

{in awe}

on a completely unrelated note, thought some of you mamas who read the blog might be interested in one of clara's birthday presents (from us) - a custom board book from pint size productions (google for a coupon).  we, and she, love it!

have a great week!

2. people keep coming over and reading to Clara, and she loves it! see?

with scott's dad

with my dad

with my friend pamela

anyway, hope everyone is having a great Christmas weekend! promise more pics soon.

report cards for 9 month olds?!

clara (and dada) received this hilarious report card from swimming a couple of weeks ago:

I love that the only two options are "yes" and "improving." ha ha.

things have been hectic and we're behind on picture taking. it's hard to get good pictures of an almost-toddler, as she's always in motion.

best photo op of the week - passed out in the car after music class (still clutching a drumstick)

some random updates:
  • she finally says mama! still doesn't know what mama or dada mean, though.
  • she is suddenly, totally obsessed with books. favorites include: little bee (a finger puppet book), squishy turtle and friends, clifford's first halloween, fuzzy bee and friends, and the very hungry caterpillar.   she has a strange aversion to dr. seuss' ABCs (one of scott's childhood faves).
  • she loves the sound of fallen oak leaves crinkling underfoot.
  • she doesn't understand daylight saving's time and is therefore waking up at 5 am now (at least I get to spend more time with her before work?).
  • she's perfectly capable of holding her own bottle but would much rather you do it.
  • current nicknames include: miss booga, baby bizzle, little biscuit.

thanks for visiting our blog and we hope you have a great week :)
